Roll-Off Dumpster Rental across Saginaw County

A roll-off is the general-purpose version of everything else on this site: a steel container delivered on a hook-lift truck, left where you want it for as long as the work takes, and collected when you say it is done. Five sizes, from the small dense-material box up to the big light-material box, and the choice between them is almost always decided by what you are putting in rather than by how much of it there is.

The part worth reading is the second half of that sentence. We run containers to seventeen communities in Saginaw County, and those seventeen are not one market with one rulebook. The county has thirty county subdivisions — three cities and twenty-seven townships — with five villages sitting inside townships on top of that. A village reader answers to two governments. A charter township is not a city. And a mailing address that reads Saginaw is a postal fact, not a jurisdictional one.

So this page does something most roll-off pages do not: it tells you which single jurisdiction's rules we actually read, and declines to invent the other sixteen. That narrowing is deliberate. It is more useful than a confident paragraph that happens to be about somewhere else.

At a glance

What you get with roll-off dumpster rental

  • Five sizes, matched to the material rather than to the project's headline
  • Seventeen communities in Saginaw County, each named as the government it actually is
  • City of Saginaw ordinance sections cited by number and date-stamped
  • No invented rules for the sixteen communities whose ordinances we did not read

Seventeen communities, nineteen units of government

Michigan's local government map is more layered than most, and in Saginaw County it shows. Of the seventeen places on our list, one is a home rule city, twelve are townships — several of them charter townships — two are cities that are not the City of Saginaw, and two are villages. A village is not a smaller township; it sits inside one, so a resident of Birch Run village is also a resident of Birch Run township and has two boards. St. Charles village, at 1,992 people, is larger than St. Charles township at 1,399. Zilwaukee exists as both a city of 1,534 and a township of 62.

The most consequential doublet is the big one. The City of Saginaw had 44,202 residents at the 2020 Census. Saginaw Charter Township had 41,679 and is a wholly separate government, using Saginaw mailing addresses in 48603 and 48609. Half of what people call Saginaw is not the City of Saginaw. And Bridgeport is a charter township with no city or village of that name at all, which trips up out-of-area suppliers regularly.

What all of them do share is one waste institution: the Mid Michigan Waste Authority, 34 member municipalities across the greater Saginaw area. That is exactly why the services feel identical from the curb while the rules behind them are not.

Which rules we can actually cite

For the City of Saginaw we read the code and can quote it. Section 50.03 puts collection under the City Manager's supervision. Section 50.05 sets the container rules — 35 gallons or less, a container and contents weight limit of 50 pounds, no more than 20 bags per household per week, and a prohibited-container list that includes cardboard boxes, barrels and drums. Section 50.06 lists eleven categories the collection will not take, including the construction and demolition materials at (C) and material resulting from contract work at (I). Section 94.068 handles material left in the street right-of-way, on a 72-hour notice. Section 92.30(A)(1) adopts the 2024 International Fire Code. Chapter 50 is current through Ordinance O-274, passed 22 September 2025, effective 2 October 2025. The text is public at the City's code library.

For the other sixteen communities we read no refuse ordinance, no container rule, no fee schedule and no permit procedure. One exception: Saginaw Charter Township's own fire-code page states it enforces the 2018 International Fire Code with amendments.

We write that as we could not find one, and we mean it literally. It is not a claim that there is nothing to find. It means we did not read it, so we will not publish it. A roll-off page that confidently describes permit rules for twelve townships has made most of them up.

A postal address is not a government

This is the piece of local knowledge that costs people time, and it is checkable. Two addresses that both read “Saginaw, MI 48601” come back differently from the Census geography services. 1315 S Washington Ave returns Saginaw city in the incorporated-places layer. The township administration building at 3945 E Holland Ave returns a charter township, with no incorporated place at all. Same postal city, same ZIP, two governments.

We apply that to ourselves rather than only to customers. Our address is 3102 Sawyer Dr, Saginaw, MI 48601. That is a postal address. We tried to establish which government it sits in from public records and we could not do it: the Census geocoder would not resolve the street number at all, and the one published coordinate for the street is a secondary source that locates the street rather than the number. So we do not say we are in the City of Saginaw, and we do not name a township either. We do not know, and we are not going to guess on our own behalf any more than we would on yours.

If you need to know for certain which government covers your own address — for a permit, for a code question, for anything that matters — the county and the municipality are the places to confirm it. Saginaw County is a reasonable starting point, and Census QuickFacts carries the population figures quoted on this page.

Suitability

When roll-off dumpster rental is the right call, and when it is not

Read both columns against what is actually going to come out of the building before anything is booked. It is a short job and it decides the size.

Good fits for this container

  • Any job where the waste arrives faster than a curbside program can absorb it
  • Mixed loads that would otherwise be several separate trips
  • Staged work that needs a swap partway rather than one enormous box
  • Sites where the container has to live on the ground for the duration

Send these somewhere else

  • A single bulky item that one pickup truck would handle
  • Liquids, hazardous material or anything radioactive, acidic, caustic or explosive
  • Material you want placed in the street before you have asked the City about it

Sizing

Container sizes that run on roll-off dumpster rental

Every size below runs on this service. Choose on the density of the material and the cubic yards look after themselves, because what ends a dense load is the weight the loaded truck can lawfully carry on a public road.

  • 10 yard — Dense material: concrete, masonry, tile, soil and roof tear-off. Weight binds before the box fills.
  • 15 yard — A garage, a heavy single room, or a flooring tear-out with the subfloor coming up.
  • 20 yard — The default whole-house declutter and the usual remodel size. Either constraint can bind.
  • 30 yard — Multi-room work and bulky, light material, where volume is what runs out first.
  • 40 yard — New construction and high-volume light demolition waste on a long-running site.
Roll-off container sizes we run across Saginaw County, MI. The last column is physics, not a term of the deal: dense material reaches the weight a loaded truck can lawfully carry on the road with the box part empty, bulky material runs out of room first.

Roll-Off Dumpster Rental in Saginaw County: the local specifics

Our seventeen communities sit across Saginaw County in three distinct shapes, and the shape is the point. One is the City of Saginaw, a home rule city, and it is the only one whose refuse rules we can quote. Twelve are townships, answering to a township board rather than a city hall. Four are incorporated places that are not the City — the cities of Zilwaukee and Frankenmuth and the villages of Birch Run and St. Charles — and the two villages sit inside townships of the same name.

Every distance we publish anywhere on this site is straight-line, measured from a coordinate that locates our street rather than our street number, so it carries about a mile of uncertainty at the origin. We do not publish drive times, because a drive time depends on the day and would be a guess dressed up as a fact. Tell us the address and we will tell you plainly whether we get there.

Answers

Roll-Off Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Which roll-off size should I start from?

Start from the material, not the project. If it is dense — concrete, masonry, tile, soil, shingles — begin at the 10 yard and expect weight to decide the load. If it is bulky and light — furniture, framing offcuts, packaging, shelving — begin at the 20 and move up. The 20 yard is the default for a whole-house declutter because most household loads are genuinely mixed.

Do you deliver outside the City of Saginaw?

Yes. Our list runs to seventeen communities across Saginaw County, including the townships and the two villages. The rules we can quote stop at the City line, but the service does not. If your community is not on the list, call anyway and ask rather than assuming; we would rather tell you yes or no on the phone than have you guess from a map.

Why does this site only quote ordinance sections for one city?

Because that is the only refuse chapter we read. The City of Saginaw's code is published in full and we went through it section by section. For the other sixteen communities on our list we found no ordinance text we could verify, so we publish none. Writing confident rules for twelve townships from the general shape of Michigan practice would be fabrication, and it is the easiest way for a site like this to be wrong at scale.

My mail says Saginaw. How do I find out which government I am actually in?

Ask the county or the municipality directly rather than trusting the postal city. Two addresses in 48601 can sit in two different jurisdictions, and we have shown that above with two real examples from the Census geography services. If it matters for a permit or a code question, get it confirmed by the authority rather than inferred from an envelope.

How much space does the truck need to set a roll-off down?

A straight approach it can back along, overhead clearance for the hoist arm, and clear room behind the container while it tips off the rails. Low branches, carport beams, tight gateposts and parked cars are the usual obstacles. Describe the approach when you call, including whether the drive is shared, sloped or narrow, and the driver will plan the set rather than improvise it on the day.

Can I move the container once it has been delivered?

No, and please do not try. A roll-off is set with the truck for a reason, and a partly loaded container dragged across a surface will take the surface with it. If the position turns out to be wrong, call and we will talk about repositioning it properly rather than having it shifted by hand or by a machine that is not built for it.

Service area

Roll-Off Dumpster Rental across Saginaw County

We run containers out of 3102 Sawyer Dr to seventeen communities in Saginaw County. They are grouped below by what kind of government each one actually is, because in Michigan that is the difference between a city hall, a township board and a village that sits inside a township — and it decides who you have to call about your own address. If yours is not listed, call anyway; we most likely still get there.

The city

The only jurisdiction in this list whose refuse rules we were able to read and quote.

Townships

A township board, not a city hall. We could not establish container or refuse rules for any of these, and we do not publish ones we could not read.

Other incorporated places

Two cities and two villages. A village sits inside its township, so a village address has two governments over it at once.
